Field Workers

On this new page, we hope to show some of the people who are active field workers and helpers for the Falkirk and North Lanarkshire Council Bean Geese Biodiversity Action Group.  More individual s will be added as their profiles and 'mug shots' become available.  If you happen upon us out on the Slamannan Plateau stop for a chat.

Derek McGinn (Web Site Contributor)

Has had an interest in birds since boyhood and became a member of the Scottish Ornithologists Club in 1961. A keen all round naturalist and mountain walker who has led activity holidays with HF Holidays Ltd for many years. Has studied the Bean Geese flock since 1993.

An amateur wildlife Sound Recordist for thirty years Derek has accumulated recordings of many Scottish birds. Based in the Highlands, his particular enjoyment is in recording mountain birds, waders and geese. None have proved as “difficult” as the wintering Bean Geese and he has now enjoyed two winter seasons working on them. He still has to capture a perfect recording of them!
